Times Square

Quite simply the most visited place in the world! Also known as "  The Crossroads of the World  . " The famous New York intersection is located in the center of Manhattan and is known for its gigantic animated ads, endless light buildings, the naked cowboy , his inordinate shops (M & M's World, Toys'R'Us), musicals ...
This area bustles all year round at all hours and in all weathers!

Empire State Building & Top Of The Rock

Both locations will offer incredible views of the city of New York. For about $ 25 you will overlook Manhattan and quickly fill the memory card from your camera.
We recommend you get there before sunset and wait for nightfall to see the buildings light up gradually.
Note:  both places offer great views of Manhattan, the Top of the Rock can admire the Empire State Building, and the Empire offers a higher than the Top of the Rock view.

Flatiron Building

One of the first buildings constructed in the world (1902). This historic building is named for its triangular shape that looks like an iron.
Besides the Flatiron Building is the Madison Square Park , Take this opportunity to go and take a relaxing break and taste the famous Shake Shack Burger. (More information on this restaurant on our article "5 affordable restaurants in New York  ")

Highline, transform urban space

The Highline is an old disused railway line elevated above the streets converted into a park. Across the entire Highline will take a good thirty minutes (many artworks are located throughout the journey, the design is very thorough and you'll also have access to spectacular views of Manhattan). Several buildings have also seen the day along the promenade, most has very surprising architectures.
 Enter on the highline: 14th Street, 16th, 18th, 20th, 26th, 28th, 30th

5th Avenue

I propose a small route on 5th Avenue the best known and popular in New York. Start to 34th Street (at the Empire State Building) and up the Avenue to Central Park . It is on this street that mixes luxury boutiques (Cartier, Tiffany's, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Bvlgari, ...) and other iconic brands (Apple Store, Abercrombie). You can also admire the New York Public Library and Bryant Park  at the 42th Street. On 42th Street, also made a small detour to see Grand Central , New York's legendary station (discover the secrets of this station in our article: Unusual activity in New York ). Also on the 42th street, completely east of Manhattan: the headquarters of the United Nations ( UN ), the opportunity to visit for $ 16 ($ 11 with student ID), the tour lasts about an hour.
At the 50th Street: Rockefeller Center , Rockefeller Plaza (it is here that we find the famous Christmas tree in New York), Radio City Music Hall , St Thomas Church (53rd St and 5th Avenue), Trump Tower, NBC Studio Tour, Diamond & Jewelry Way (an entire street of shops diamond is the first shopping center in the world for gems).

West Village & Greenwich Village

Intellectual soil of New York, it is in this very stylish than most celebrities (Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tom Cruise ,.) living historic district. You can explore the small alleys surrounded by houses with red brick facades. These houses have received the largest protest, writers and poets. The district has famous jazz clubs, blues or rock and used as decorations for an indeterminable number of films (this is also the number 90 Bedford Street, as the resident band of actors in the series Friends).
Take the opportunity to taste the cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery, discover chic boutiques and trends on Bleecker Street and Commerce. Take a relaxing break in Washington Square to hear the musicians, watch the chess players. This park can be very busy at lunch because it is right next to New York University, many young students flock during lunch breaks.

Brooklyn Bridge

Emblematic icon of New York is the oldest steel bridge and remained for more than 20 years, the longest suspension bridge in the world. Allow half an hour to cross by photo stops, in fact you move farther gradually building in Manhattan.

Chinatown

The change of scenery, smells and sputum hello ... This area is nevertheless a must see in New York. Start your visit by Canal Street, you will find yourself quickly surrounded by shops, fish markets, perfumeries and Chinese restaurants. Enjoy the atmosphere ofColumbus Park : residents engage in their daily Tai Chi classes take Kung Fu, play cards and mah-jongg, all to the sounds of traditional Chinese instruments.

Harlem

Cultural capital of black America, the Manhattan has completely transformed in recent years. Rents increased exponentially and the poorest are forced to leave the neighborhood.
We recommend you to visit Harlem on a Sunday morning Mass and day to attend a gospel church . The experience is fabulous for your first gospel church, I recommend the following church: First Corinthian Baptist Church , you can see the faithful dancing to gospel, but also in a trance during the speech of the pastor. After Mass, chain with a walk through the neighborhood to discover the famous Brown-stones .
Address of the church: 1912 7th Ave New York, NY
