A short guide to visit Barcelona on 1 or 2 days

When you stay on the Costa Brava is not far from the Catalan capital, between 100 and 170 km. This may be the opportunity to visit Barcelona on 1 or 2 days (as I do quite often when I visit). This post has quickly all the places that the city, the best that Barcelona you to see.

Barcelona Parc Guell

The essentials for a day at Barcelona

Visiting Barcelona on 1 or 2 days, this is obviously not enough to make a complete tour of the city. So I propose four landmarks of Barcelona.

  • La Sagrada Familia : it's not very original. But if you have not seen it yet, the Sagrada Familia is fantastic, especially now that the new dome was finished. Gaudi's unfinished cathedral "Sagrada Familia" can not be compared to any other building in style and techniques architectural. La Sagrada Familia, which is a designated World Heritage Site. Get there early in the Sagrada Familia to get there in good conditions.

  • The Palau de la Música Catalana : Puig i Cadafalch was a contemporary of Gaudí, and had a more ornate approach and the Palau de la Música Catalana is his masterpiece.

  • La Rambla , the busiest street in Barcelona. Joyous crowd where cross tourists, street performers and crowds always smiling. The stores are linked with colors and extravagant decorations. Shopaholics are met.
Barcelona Ramblas
  • Camp Nou : For football fans, there is no need to present the legendary stadium of FC Barcelona. One of the biggest in Europe.

Barcelona neighborhoods

Barcelona is divided into neighborhoods (barrios) separated by large avenues. To quickly identify when your day in Barcelona I offer this plan simplified Barcelona then a quick overview of neighborhoods.

"Old Town, Raval, the Bari Gotic and Born"

This is where the story has been built in the city. Bari Gotic in the heart of Barcelona wraps around the Cathedral. This is an area that concentrates all beginner contrasts the Rambla to lead in old winding streets. There are trendy boutiques of young designers, the Gothic cathedral, Romanesque churches, romantic little squares, bars, restaurants, art galleries, and the inevitable History Museum in the city. On the other side of the Rambla is the Boqueria market in early Raval. In el Born, do not miss the Palau de la Música and the Parc de la Ciutadella which you can relax in the shade of trees.

The Quartier de l'Eixample (around Passeig de Gracia)

Wealthy neighborhood of Barcelona, which hosts some of the best shops in Barcelona. This is the area of modernist architecture, or we find the Casa Batllo, the Predreda (Casa Mila) on the Passeig de Gracia and the Sagrada Familia, Gaudí.

Montjuïc

Montjuic is a hill with fabulous views of the city. Among the tourist attractions found strong Montjuïc, the Miró Foundation and anela Olympic. Going down to the Esapgne place are the MNAC Museum National Museum of Catalan Art, which has the immense local heritage, including the wonders of the Catalan Romanesque and Gothic art, the Poble Espanyol and the Magic Fountain of Montjuic. To get there take the funicular or the teleferic.

Gracia

Some way from the city center and major Gracia is rather quiet. Its independence from the rest of the city makes it a nice area, where everything is accessible, grocery stores, movie theater, boutiques, souvenirs ... do not forget the Park Guell.

Appreciate the architecture of Gaudi

What is the most interesting way to learn about Gaudi in Barcelona? Here is the list of monuments of Gaudi. The choice is yours! Warning, these monuments are visited and reservations are often more convenient to stay for a day in Barcelona.
  • La Sagrada Familia (see unavoidable)

  • The Park Güell , with its mushroom-shaped houses, the bench and the following famous salamander. The palau Güell is a newly renovated museum dedicated to Gaudi
  • Visit the exhibition last La Pedrera, a building on the Passeig de Gracia. This gives an overview of his work and all his creations in Barcelona and throughout the country.

Barcelona has everything a big city with the addition of a huge facade of the Mediterranean to which must be added an average of three hundred days of sunshine a year

  • Platja Forum for families.

  • Barcelonians attend many Bogatell Beach. Paradise rollers, cyclists and joggers. A dike without restaurants and bars. A little more "wild"

Quick tour of Barcelona

Barcelona City Tour is an official bus of Barcelona, but a tourist double-decker bus. This is surely the easiest way to visit Barcelona and see its famous monuments. You can hop on and off as many times as you like bus stops (4 of them allow you to switch from one track to another) and discover Barcelona!
